Check how quickly your internet connection responds to web requests with our free Ping and HTTP Latency Test. The tool measures response times between your browser and this website’s server, helping you understand latency, response-time variation, and failed HTTP requests.
It works with PTCL broadband, Flash Fiber, other internet providers, and mobile data connections in Pakistan.

Ping & HTTP Latency Test
Measure response times by sending a series of small requests to this website's server.
Time for a complete small HTTP request and response to this website's server.
Each point represents one measured HTTP response. Gaps indicate failed requests.
What this test measures: Browser-observed HTTP request-and-response time on the route to this website's server (or its hosting/CDN edge). Two initial warm-up requests are excluded from reported results. Server processing, browser behavior, and connection setup can affect the readings.
Not ICMP ping or packet loss: A normal browser cannot send raw ICMP echo requests. Failed HTTP requests are not a packet-loss measurement. This test does not measure download speed, upload speed, loaded latency, or the performance of every internet route.
*Jitter method: Mean absolute difference between consecutive successful HTTP latency measurements (milliseconds). Requests are sent one at a time, while this tab remains active. No test history is saved by this plugin. Normal website, hosting and CDN access logs may still apply.
How to Run the HTTP Latency Test
- Choose a test length: Quick (12 requests), Standard (20 requests), or Detailed (30 requests).
- Click Start Latency Test.
- Keep this browser tab open and active while the test runs.
- Review the latency measurements, HTTP jitter, and live response-time graph.
- Repeat the test to check whether your results remain consistent.
The test sends small HTTP requests to this website’s server. Two initial warm-up requests are excluded from the reported measurements.
Understanding Your Latency Test Results
Your results are displayed in milliseconds (ms). A millisecond is one-thousandth of a second.
| Measurement | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Median latency | The middle response time, representing a typical successful request. |
| Average latency | The average response time across successful requests. |
| Minimum latency | The fastest recorded successful response. |
| Maximum latency | The slowest recorded successful response. |
| 95th percentile | A response time at or below which approximately 95% of successful measurements fall. |
| HTTP jitter | The average absolute difference between consecutive successful HTTP response times. |
| Failed HTTP requests | Requests that did not return the expected successful response. |
Lower and more consistent HTTP latency generally indicates quicker, steadier responses from the tested server. However, results depend on the server, network route, browser, and conditions during testing.
What Is the Difference Between Ping and HTTP Latency?
Traditional ping typically uses Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) echo requests to check whether a network destination responds and measure round-trip time.
This browser-based tool uses HTTP requests instead. It measures how long your browser takes to complete a small request to this website’s server.
HTTP latency and ICMP ping are not interchangeable. They use different protocols, and their measurements may differ even on the same connection.
Important: This tool does not measure raw ICMP ping, network packet loss, download speed, upload speed, or loaded latency. A failed HTTP request should not be interpreted as proof of packet loss.
Why Is My HTTP Latency High?
Several conditions can increase the response time:
- Weak Wi-Fi signal: Distance, walls, or wireless interference may affect connectivity.
- Heavy internet usage: Large downloads, uploads, and other network activities can create congestion.
- Server location: Requests to distant servers may take longer to complete.
- VPN connections: A VPN can change the network route and increase response time.
- Server activity: Processing delays or heavy traffic on the destination server may affect measurements.
- Mobile network conditions: Signal quality, congestion, and network routing can influence results.
One high reading does not necessarily mean your internet provider has a problem.
How to Improve Your Latency Results
For more reliable comparisons, test under similar conditions each time.
- Move closer to your Wi-Fi router or use an Ethernet cable if available.
- Pause large downloads and uploads temporarily.
- Close unnecessary applications using your internet connection.
- Compare results with and without a VPN, if you use one.
- Repeat the test at different times to identify recurring slowdowns.
- Restart your router if you are experiencing persistent connection problems and it is safe to do so.
If several services remain slow across multiple devices, contact your internet service provider for further troubleshooting.
Why Does the Latency Test Sometimes Fail?
A request may fail because of a connection interruption, timeout, browser restriction, server security rule, or blocked WordPress test endpoint.
If the test cannot complete, refresh the page and try again. If it repeatedly fails, check whether other websites work normally.
A test failure does not automatically establish an ISP outage.
About This HTTP Latency Tester
PTCLSpeedTest uses a browser-based testing method that sends requests to this website’s own server endpoint. Depending on the hosting setup, requests may reach a hosting or CDN edge server.
The results describe your connection to that destination at the time of testing. They are not a complete assessment of your internet provider’s network or performance on other websites, games, or applications.
The plugin does not save a history of your test results. Normal website, server, and CDN access logs may still apply.
PTCLSpeedTest is an independent internet connectivity website and is not an official testing service of PTCL, PTA, or any other internet provider.
