Common Router IP Finder Guide
Find the local IP address of the router your device is connected to. Follow the steps for your phone or computer, then enter the address in your browser to open the router’s management page.
Find the router IP on your device
Select your operating system below. These steps read your own device’s network settings; this page does not scan your router or automatically detect your gateway.
Windows 10 / 11
- Connect the computer to your home Wi-Fi or Ethernet network.
- Press Windows + R, type cmd, and press Enter.
- Type ipconfig and press Enter.
- Find the adapter you are actually using. Read its Default Gateway IPv4 address.
Example only: if the listed Default Gateway is 192.168.1.1, that is the address to try. Ignore disconnected adapters and VPN adapters.
Android phone
- Connect to your home Wi-Fi, not mobile data.
- Open Settings and find Wi-Fi or Network & internet.
- Tap the active Wi-Fi network or its settings/details icon.
- Look in Network details, Advanced, or IP settings for Gateway or Router.
Menu names vary by Android version and manufacturer. Some phones hide gateway details; use another connected device if necessary.
iPhone / iPad
- Open Settings → Wi-Fi.
- Tap the information (ⓘ) button beside your connected network.
- Scroll to the IPv4 Address section.
- Read the value labelled Router.
If the address is missing, check that you are connected to Wi-Fi rather than only cellular data.
macOS
- Open System Settings → Network.
- Select your active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection, then Details.
- Open TCP/IP.
- Find the IPv4 Router address.
Older macOS versions may use System Preferences → Network → Advanced → TCP/IP.
Linux
- Open a terminal while connected to your local network.
- Run ip -4 route.
- Find the line beginning with default via.
- The IPv4 address immediately after via is the default gateway for that route.
For example, default via 192.168.1.1 dev wlan0 identifies 192.168.1.1 as that route’s gateway.
Chromebook
- Connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Open Settings → Network and select the connected Wi-Fi network.
- Expand the network details, if needed.
- Look for the Gateway value.
ChromeOS menus can vary by version and managed-device restrictions.
Common router IP addresses
These addresses are examples, not detected results. Your connected device’s gateway setting is usually the better starting point. A router’s address can be changed by its owner, installer, or ISP.
None of these addresses is guaranteed to be the management address of a PTCL ONT or another ISP-supplied device. Check the specific model’s label, documentation, or provider instructions.
Enter your router IP
Type the IPv4 gateway you found on your own device. This helper checks its format and creates a local browser link. It does not detect the IP, scan your network, verify that the page exists, or ask for a password.
Only local private IPv4 addresses are accepted by this helper.
Some routers require HTTPS; if an HTTP page does not load, follow the router manufacturer’s instructions. Never enter router credentials into an unfamiliar site, and do not bypass unexpected certificate warnings.
How to open your router’s settings page
- Make sure your device is connected to the router’s Wi-Fi or LAN network.
- Type the gateway address into the browser address bar, not a search box. For example: http://192.168.1.1 (example only).
- If the correct router login page appears, sign in using the administrator credentials you set or those supplied by the device documentation or ISP.
- Only change settings you understand. Keep a record of existing configurations before making changes.
What if the router page does not open?
Wrong network
Make sure you are connected to your own router. On a phone, temporarily disable mobile data and disconnect VPNs if appropriate.
Wrong IP address
Check your device’s Default Gateway or Router field again. Do not assume that 192.168.1.1 belongs to every router.
Two routers or an ONT
Your default gateway may be a second Wi-Fi router rather than the PTCL fibre ONT. The ONT management address can be different or restricted.
Page loads but login fails
Confirm the exact router model and legitimate credentials. Do not repeatedly guess passwords; contact your ISP or equipment administrator if needed.
No Default Gateway shown
Verify the active network adapter and Wi-Fi connection. Reconnect normally before considering changes to IP settings.
Admin interface unavailable
Some ISP-managed devices disable browser administration or require a designated app. Consult the manufacturer’s model-specific guide.
Router IP, device IP, and public IP: what is the difference?
The router’s local IP address is used to reach a device on your home network, often the device your computer uses as its default gateway. Your device IP address identifies your laptop or phone within that network. Your public IP address is the internet-facing address seen by outside services and may be shared or changed by your ISP.
For a typical home network, start with the default gateway shown by your connected device. On networks with a separate ONT, mesh system, access point, or additional router, that gateway does not necessarily identify every network device’s management page.
