Check when a domain name is due to expire using our free Domain Expiration Lookup tool. Enter a registered domain such as example.com to find its publicly reported expiration date, remaining days, and available registration details.
The tool uses the Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) to retrieve information published by domain registries. Results depend on whether the registry provides the required information.
Check a domain’s expiration date below.
Domain registration checker Enter a registered domain to view any expiration date published by its registry through RDAP. Registry RDAP result Source: Registry RDAP record
Registry expiration dates are not necessarily your registrar's renewal/payment deadline.
Missing or past dates do not establish whether a domain is available for registration.
For .pk domains, check the official PKNIC website.Check a Domain's Expiration Date
How to Check a Domain Expiration Date
Checking a domain’s reported expiry date takes three steps:
- Enter the domain name. Type a registered domain, such as
example.comorexample.org. Do not includehttps://,www., page paths, or other website address components. - Select Check expiration. The tool requests the domain’s registration record from the relevant RDAP registry service.
- Review the results. If the information is available, you can view the expiration date, remaining days, and other published registration details.
You can check publicly available registry information for domains you own or other registered domains. No registrar account login is required for the lookup.
What Information Does the Domain Expiration Lookup Show?
The tool displays up to four important registration details.
| Result | What it means |
|---|---|
| Reported expiration date | The domain expiration event published by the registry |
| Time remaining | The approximate number of complete days until the reported date |
| Registration date | When the domain was originally registered, if published |
| Last changed | When the registry record was last changed, if published |
Dates are displayed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The results also include a link to the source RDAP record and the time the lookup was checked.
Not every registry publishes every field. Missing information is shown as unavailable rather than estimated.
What Is a Domain Expiration Date?
A domain expiration date is a date associated with the end of a domain’s current registration term in registry records.
When you register a domain name, you obtain the right to use it for a specified registration period, subject to the registry’s and registrar’s policies. You generally need to renew that registration to continue using the domain.
However, the registry expiration date and your registrar’s renewal or payment deadline are not necessarily identical.
For example, a registry may automatically extend a domain’s registration under its renewal procedures even when the domain owner has not completed payment to the registrar.
If you own the domain, always confirm the actual renewal deadline and automatic renewal settings in your registrar account.
An expiration date shown by this tool is useful for checking registration information, but it is not a guarantee that the domain will remain active until that exact time.
How to Check .PK Domain Expiration in Pakistan
Pakistani websites commonly use extensions such as .pk, .com.pk, .org.pk, and .net.pk.
These domains are administered by PKNIC, Pakistan’s .pk domain registry.
The current version of this checker does not provide automated expiration lookups for .pk domains because the IANA RDAP bootstrap directory used by the tool does not list an HTTPS RDAP service for .pk.
To check your Pakistani domain:
- Visit the official PKNIC website.
- Use the available Domain Lookup (WHOIS) service to inspect public registration information.
- If you own the domain, sign in to your PKNIC account or contact your domain registration provider to confirm its expiry and renewal requirements.
PKNIC provides domain management and renewal options through its official website. If you purchased your domain through a reseller, your payment arrangements may be handled by that provider.
Why Is My Domain Expiration Date Not Showing?
Sometimes the tool cannot retrieve an expiration date. This does not automatically mean that the domain has expired or is available to register.
Common reasons include:
- The domain extension does not have a supported HTTPS RDAP service in the directory used by the tool.
- The registry does not publish a standard expiration event in the returned record.
- The registry temporarily blocks, limits, or fails to respond to lookup requests.
- The entered name is a subdomain rather than the registered domain.
- No registration record was returned for the exact name.
For example, enter example.com rather than www.example.com.
If a date is unavailable, check your domain registrar’s account dashboard or consult the relevant registry’s official lookup service.
What Should You Do If Your Domain Is Expiring Soon?
If the lookup shows that your domain is approaching its reported expiration date, check your registration account before taking any action.
Confirm your registrar. Sign in to the company or service through which you registered your domain.
Review the renewal settings. Check the actual payment deadline, the status of automatic renewal, and whether your payment method is valid.
Renew before the deadline. Follow your registrar’s instructions and verify that the renewal has been processed successfully.
Check the updated registration record. After renewal, allow for registry updates and run another lookup if necessary.
Losing control of a domain may disrupt the website and email addresses associated with it. Renewal, recovery, and deletion procedures vary by domain extension and provider.
Does an Expired Domain Become Available Immediately?
No. A domain that has passed its reported expiration date does not necessarily become available for registration.
Depending on the domain extension and registrar policies, an expired registration may enter an automatic renewal period, a grace period, a redemption process, or another restricted status.
Some domains may continue functioning temporarily, while others may stop resolving or have services interrupted.
This tool does not determine whether a domain can be purchased. Use an authorized domain registrar or registry availability service to check registration availability.
Is Domain Expiration the Same as Hosting Expiration?
No. Domain registration and web hosting are separate services, even when you purchase them from the same company.
Your domain name is the address people use to reach your website. Hosting provides the server resources that store and serve the website’s content.
Your hosting subscription can expire while your domain remains registered, and your domain registration can expire while your hosting account remains active.
To avoid interruptions, check both renewal schedules independently.
How This Domain Expiration Lookup Works
NetTools Pakistan uses registry RDAP services to retrieve publicly available domain registration information.
When you submit a domain, the website’s server identifies a suitable registry service using IANA’s RDAP directory and requests its registration record through HTTPS.
The tool checks the returned record for standard events such as registration, expiration, and last changed. It then displays any supported dates and calculates the time remaining until the reported expiration event.
The domain entered is sent to the NetTools Pakistan server and the relevant external registry service. Normal server and service logging may apply.
This lookup does not renew domains, check hosting subscriptions, guarantee domain availability, or determine a registrar’s exact billing deadline.
Important Reminder
Use this tool as a convenient reference for registry-published expiration information. For domains you own, your registrar’s account dashboard remains the appropriate place to verify renewal status, payments, and account-specific deadlines.
NetTools Pakistan is an independent internet information and diagnostic website. It is not affiliated with ICANN, IANA, PKNIC, or any domain registrar.
