PTA Internet Complaint Checklist

Having trouble with slow internet, frequent disconnections, unexpected service charges, or repeated outages in Pakistan? Before escalating the issue to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), document the problem, contact your internet service provider (ISP), and keep a record of its response.

Our PTA Internet Complaint Checklist helps you prepare the information needed for a clear, factual complaint. Follow the interactive steps, track your preparation progress, and use the complaint outline before visiting the official PTA Complaint Management System (CMS).

The checklist works as a preparation guide. It does not send complaints to PTA or access your internet account.

Prepare a clear complaint before contacting PTA

Use this checklist to document a slow, unreliable or disconnected internet service, keep your provider's complaint reference, and prepare the details you may need in PTA's official Complaint Management System (CMS).

Checklist progress0 of 10 completed

Start by documenting the problem with your connection.

Check and document the connection

Collect observations, not assumptions about what caused the fault.

Complain to your internet provider first

Give the provider a chance to investigate and keep a record of its response.

Prepare for an official PTA complaint

Submit directly on PTA's own website or app, not on this independent site.

Privacy and independence: This tool does not ask for your CNIC, phone number, password or complaint credentials. Your checkbox selections are used only within this page; the checklist does not submit or save them. PTCLSpeedTest is independent and is not the PTA complaint portal.

What happens after you submit?

PTA's CMS allows registered users to lodge telecom service complaints and check their status. According to PTA's official user manual, the complaint can be routed to the relevant service provider for action, followed by PTA review. Save the PTA reference shown after submission, check the complaint dashboard and respond to any request for more information. A submission does not guarantee a particular resolution or deadline.

What makes strong evidence?

  • A dated description of the fault and its impact.
  • The service/package you actually subscribe to, where relevant.
  • Comparable repeat speed tests, with test conditions noted.
  • ISP ticket number, communications and attempted fixes.
  • A clear statement of the outcome you are asking for.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Using only a single Wi-Fi speed test as proof of an ISP-wide fault.
  • Omitting the ISP complaint or contact history.
  • Sharing CNIC, login passwords or OTPs on unofficial websites.
  • Sending irrelevant or unredacted personal documents.
  • Confusing a telecom service complaint with a report about online content.

How to use the PTA portal

Open the official CMS address above. New users can follow PTA's sign-up and verification instructions; existing users can sign in. Choose the telecom services complaint category and the relevant provider and service type. The portal may request the subscriber complaint number, a complaint summary and optional attachments. Follow the live form's instructions, submit the complaint, and retain the PTA tracking reference. The form and categories may change, so rely on the current official portal.

Which Internet Problems Can You Report?

The checklist is useful when you need to document an unresolved issue with a fixed broadband, fiber, DSL, or mobile internet service.

Slow internet speed: Your connection repeatedly performs below expectations. Record download and upload speeds, testing conditions, and how the problem affects your internet use.

Frequent disconnections: Your connection drops repeatedly during browsing, video calls, online classes, or other activities. Note when the interruptions happen and whether multiple devices are affected.

Complete internet outages: Your internet service stops working for an extended period or experiences recurring outages. Keep an outage timeline and your provider’s responses.

High latency or unstable connectivity: Video calls freeze, online games lag, or websites respond inconsistently. Record the symptoms and relevant test results without assuming the cause.

Billing or service disputes: You encounter an unexplained internet charge, a disputed package change, or a service-related billing problem. Keep your bills, subscription information, and correspondence.

This checklist focuses on telecommunications service complaints. Reports about unlawful online content follow a different complaint category in PTA’s system.

Check Whether the Problem Is Wi-Fi or Your Internet Connection

Before submitting a speed-related complaint, try to identify where the problem might be occurring.

If possible, compare the connection on another device. For a home broadband connection, a wired Ethernet test can help distinguish Wi-Fi performance from the connection between your router and the internet.

A slow Wi-Fi result does not automatically mean the ISP is delivering insufficient bandwidth. Distance from the router, interference, connected devices, and local network congestion can affect performance.

Similarly, a satisfactory speed test does not rule out intermittent outages, high latency, or problems reaching particular services.

For a stronger complaint, record multiple observations rather than relying on one result.

How to Make Your Internet Complaint More Specific

A useful complaint explains what happened, when it happened, what steps you already took, and what response you received.

For example, instead of writing only “My internet is very slow,” you could use this format:

Example complaint description

My internet connection from [ISP name] has experienced repeated speed drops or disconnections since [date]. The problem occurs mainly during [times or conditions] and affects [devices or activities]. I checked the connection using [testing method] and contacted the provider on [date]. My ISP complaint reference is [ticket number]. The issue remains unresolved. I request an investigation, an explanation of the findings, and appropriate corrective action.

Replace every placeholder with accurate information. Include only symptoms and testing results you actually observed.

Protect Your Personal Information

The official PTA complaint system may require identity verification and subscriber details. Enter such information only through the official PTA website or application after confirming that you are using the genuine service.

Do not include passwords, one-time verification codes, unnecessary CNIC copies, or unrelated personal records in your complaint description.

If screenshots contain private information, remove or conceal details that are not necessary to explain the issue.

Keep Track of Your Complaint

After contacting your ISP, retain its complaint or ticket number and any promised follow-up. If you later escalate the matter to PTA, these records help explain what has already happened.

When you submit a complaint through the official PTA CMS, keep the resulting reference and use the official system to check for updates or requests for additional information.

If the service is restored, check whether the original problem has actually been resolved. For intermittent faults, observations over more than one day may help determine whether the issue has returned.

Submitting a complaint does not guarantee a particular outcome or resolution time.
